how to use

How to Use Your Handmade Effect Watercolors

Our handmade effect watercolors come in solid pans and need to be activated with water before use. Here's how to get the most out of your iconic colors:

Step-by-Step Instructions:

  1. Add Water
Drop a few drops of clean water onto the surface of the paint. You can use a pipette, dropper, or a wet brush to do this.

  2. Let it Soak
Allow the water to sit on the color for 3–5 minutes. This helps soften the paint and activates the pigments.

    • Mica-based colors usually need less time.

    • Glitter-based colors benefit from the full soaking time for optimal performance.

  3. Mix to Activate
Use your brush to gently stir the water into the paint until you reach a smooth, creamy consistency. You're now ready to paint!

  4. Adjust the Consistency
You control the texture and opacity with water:

    • More water = thinner consistency, more transparency

    • Less water = thicker paint, more opacity and coverage

Tips for Best Results

  • Use a soft brush to avoid damaging the pigment particles.
  • Always allow the pans to dry completely after use before closing the lid or storing them.
  • Experiment with different water amounts to find your perfect painting style.
